SHAMPOO BARS
What is the difference between a Shampoo Bar and a bar of Soap? Shampoo bars have more castor oil than soaps, it is a great hair care oil and contributes to the fluffy, bubbly lather that people like in shampoo bars. We also use oils like Coconut, Tea Tree, Lavender and Olive in our Shampoo Bars, all are known to be especially good for hair. Our base liquid for this product is Nettle infused tea which provides deep cleaning to remove excess sebum (fatty deposits) from hair and scalp. Nettle also helps to fortify the hair fibers.
Is your shampoo really detergent? Look at the label on your shampoo. Commercial shampoos are actually detergents. Detergent is good for one thing--removing oils. Detergent is great when you are cleaning laundry or dishes, but NOT when you are cleaning your scalp and hair!
Detergent shampoo strip the natural moisturizing oils from your hair and scalp. Our Shampoo Bars are loaded with conditioning oils and beneficial essential oils.
New to Shampoo Bars?
When you first start using a shampoo bar don't be surprised if you get what we call the "funky hair" syndrome. Your hair might be fly-away or look lank and heavy... This is just a temporary situation. Too many commercial conditioners and shampoos leave behind a coating on your hair. It might take a few days for the shampoo bar to strip off these excess conditioners. Since this is not a detergent bar you will need to put a little bit of elbow grease into your scrubbing to work up the lather and get your scalp and hair really clean. What you will be left with is shiny, full-bodied hair.
We like to recommend to new customers to rinse their hair with a mixture of 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar in 2 cups of water after shampooing. Work this mixture through really well and rinse, rinse, rinse with barely tepid water. Your hair won't smell like a pickle, just clean and fresh.... Promise!
One Note: These shampoo bars aren't recommended for use with really hard water. The extra minerals in the water bind with the suds and make them impossible to rinse off cleanly. If the shampoo doesn't work with your type of hair or water, they work nicely as a body shampoo.
